So, this week was not too great work wise. We just simply didn’t have a ton of time. We had meetings in the morning on Thursday and Friday. That means we got back to our area around 3-4 in the afternoon. Not a ton of time for work. Then Saturday was all in Conference and the same Sunday.
On Thursday we had our district meeting. Vroom and I had to teach the lesson. We taught about unity. We had our district do a 3 legged race and then do it again, but with one companion that was blindfolded. We were thinking that it would be easier when both could see and that would be a good example of unity, but then our DL made a comment that completely changed it. Velez said that he really liked when he was blindfolded because he could confide in his companion, and it seemed easier. It was a great comment, because it’s totally true. When we confide in our companion we can do things so much better. If we are both trying to reach the same goal, but are determined to do it only our way, it will be so much harder.
Friday we had a reunion for the Hermanas. It was a lot of fun. The Zetta Ellas (Zone Leaders) had assigned all of us questions to give a short 2-3 minute talk on. Some of the Hermanas took that to be teach a lesson, but that’s okay. It turned out really fun. One Hermana taught about Christ-like attributes and had us say what our weakness are, and then assigned another Hermana to give us a note and scripture that would help us with that attribute. It was awesome. We also watched a short video.
Conference was great! I loved watching it.
We went to Cardenas (the Stake Center?) at the temple to watch it, and I got to watch it again in English.
Sunday was a little more difficult because that we started in our chapel to make sure our confirmations happened, but then the internet failed. So, we basically ran as fast as possible to get to Cardenas to watch Conference. So I missed the first 40 minutes of Sunday morning, but the rest of it was amazing.
I think President Packer’s talk was my favorite. It answered a lot of questions for me. I also noticed a theme of love and the atonement in this conference. They really want us to love everybody and for everybody to know that is not too late to come back to Heavenly Father. The messages they shared were amazing.
I hope everybody takes the opportunity to watch conference. It truly is amazing.
Hope you all have a great week!
Love you lots
Editor’s Note: For those unfamiliar with General Conference, it is the semi-annual conference for the entire Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There are six 2-hour sessions – four general sessions, one for men, and one for women – in which the leadership of the worldwide church present uplifting and fulfilling messages centered around church doctrine. As someone on Facebook said, it’s like TED talks for Mormonism. You can check out the whole conference online here.
